a man takes his sadness down to the river and throws it in the river but then he's still left with the river. A man takes his sadness and throws it away but then he's still left with his hands.
❝ Just seeing you here means a lot. At least now I know you’re alive. It sounds weird for me to even say that, but—— it’s good to see you again, ❞
[ She pauses, red lips parted & meaning to continue, but correctly doing so becomes difficult. There’s no subtle way to explain what had occurred since the two of them left New York. She’s failed to explain it in the past, & to do so so earlyon in their reunion doesn’t cross her mind once. Gaze returns to his when proper words come to her. ]
❝ ——Sam, I think this one’s under control. Someone’s already working it. ❞
His face breaks into a smile at her words, because of all the people he and Dean have met, she has always stuck in his brain. She was kind and courageous, where so many others failed. She reminds him of Jess, a little, and enough time has passed that he can think of others without falling to his knees in grief.
❝ Yeah. Yeah! It’s, uh, —— it’s good to see you too. Really good, actually. ❞
Smooth, Sam. He moves a hand to rub at the nape of his neck, smiling briefly to himself. But his daydreams are short-lived, and his focus once again snaps back to the case.
[ Travelers usually go unnoticed, but it’s difficult for others not to speak &gossip of two supposed special agents who have arrived to solve the newest mystery New York has provided. It’s even more strenuous to not do so when there is a l r e a d y an agent in the city. She refuses to allow her cover to be blown so easily, and it’s not the first time she fools the FBI into allowing her to take care of it. So, when one of the agents arrive onto the crime scene, she makes her way to him without a s e c o n d glance & with thick imprudence. But she’s brought to a sudden stop when brown hair & familiar hues are taken in. ]
❝ ——Sam? What’re you doing here? ❞
It’s not often that two hunters find themselves working the same case, because evil is everywhere, but hunters are few. So when Sam steps onto the crime scene, he hardly expects to be approached by another hunter. In fact, he’s halfway through figuring out a way to explain exactly why he’s impersonating an FBI agent when he realizes that the girl in front of him is not, in fact, working for the law.
❝ Sarah? Wow. I haven’t seen you in y e a r s . ❞
Actually, he’d barely recognized her. She looks good, though, just as fiery and alive as the first time they’d met.
In a heartbeat he’s too close, leaning up to hiss words in Sam’s face - gone is the calm, human-loving creature of mere minutes ago. Castiel is a soldier again, and his wrath is dangerous to both of them.
❝ Cas, come, on, what are you gonna do? ❞
Dean is dangerous, yes, but he’s still Sam’s brother, and Sam will not let Castiel harm him without putting up a fight.
